Felicity Makeover

Dear Felicitites,

I am so proud to tell you the Felicity House has been painted! Thanks to Two Men & A Brush and your donations we finished this aspect of our makeover. As much as I would love to stop and revel in this, we have to keep moving forward.

So we are on to the Kitchen! I am in the process of looking for a new counter top and tile for a back splash.

In the coming weeks, I will need a lot of help with cleaning, landscaping, painting trim and decor. If you are willing to help, please let me know!

Summer Excuses

Dear Felicitites,

Summer is already half gone and I have done nothing on our beloved Felicity house. There are many excuses I could use to explain why I have been slack in work and writing the blog this summer, but I have boiled them down to a few.

  1. It's too hot. Who wants to work on a house with no AC in 80+ degree weather?
  2. I have been asked to write my memoirs. They should be completed 2012 pending future reality show success "Christine plus 13" where I take 13 rats and see how lucky they are living on the streets of New York City.
  3. I was hiking on the Appalachian Trail - wait I think that one has been used already.
  4. Been too busy watching "I'm a celebrity...", "I survived a Japanese...", and "Superstars"
and finally the real one:
  1. I am actually spending time with My kids this summer. We have had so much fun doing devotions, taking walks, discussing ideas and just being together. It really has been one of the best summers I have had in years.

So - Next week I take 8 kids to camp, when I return I plan to find a painter for exterior of the Felicity House. If you know of anyone you could recommend that would be great - otherwise I will be going through my value coupons mailing and using a coupon on painters!

Outside work Begins!

The weather as finally cooperated enough for those who have offered to prep the outside of Felicity to come and work. Once the exterior has been scraped and sanded, we can finally paint! We will begin with a primer and then add a warm yellow with white trim. The money for this has already been donated so we will only have to wait on the weather!

When painting is to commence, I will announce it and anyone willing and able will be included!

Woohoo!

Great Weekend!

Dear Felicitites,

We have had a profitable weekend! Of the $600 needed we sit today at $705! Thank you so much for all who gave and all who prayed. We hope to begin work on floors ASAP.
I have also met with many at Peak Vista and hope to have a visit from the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile which offers Health and Dental Services for those with little or no insurance (keep an eye out for their National Debut on CNN's Campbell Brown! I would love to have a relationship with them that will allow us to host them monthly at Felicity and allow them to give care to those in our immediate area.
Things are moving... I will post pictures as the work in the house is being done.

Keep telling friends of the great things we will do through Felicity!

Yours,
Christine

Our Feliciathon continues

We have someone who wanted to give a partial chunk of $20, she was then matched by someone else for another $20. Then we had someone give another $100 chunk...
for those keeping track that means we are at $440 of the $600 needed!

Yay God.

Thank you so much for all of you who have given. I am completely humbled and honored to be given the opportunity to do something people are excited about!

Yours,
Christine

Let's keep praying!

UPDATE!!

It has comes to my attention that if the money needed (approx. $600) was broken down into smaller chunks, say 6 $100 chunks, we would be able to get this floor done and Felicity that much closer to being opened!
So as of now, I have 2 people willing to give $100. That's $200 hundred towards the goal! If you are interested in giving a "chunk" PLEASE EMAIL ME.
I feel a little like PBS.

Thank you for those willing to give!!!!

This week at Felicity...

My Dear Felicitites,

As i sit in Starbucks on this April Fools Day writing to you, i only wish I was joking. We have found ourselves at a standstill with Felicity. In order to move on, we really need the wood floors redone, however the cost is not in our budget. So i am waiting, canvassing and praying for money to finish the project. I ask that you pray with me.
Also - every time the painter has scheduled us into his busy life to come and begin the exterior, the weather has not cooperated with him. As soon as we have some consistent weather (i know that's an oxymoron in Colorado) we will be able to move on the outside.
So it looks to me Felicity will be delayed in its opening. REGARDLESS, in the words of Winston Churchill, i promise to "NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!"

Yours affectionately,
Christine

Floors!

Well we have had some great progress today!  John Williams has come and torn up the rest of the laminate flooring in the Kitchen and in the Bathroom.  The kitchen floor is now ready to be built on and tomorrow i may shop for new laminate!
The bathroom has a bit more work, we found mold and will have to take care of that before laying the tile.
BUT it's PROGRESS!
Yay us!

Quote Time

"Most women still need a room of their own and the only way to find it may be outside their own homes"
-Germaine Greer, Feminist author and activist

Love it! This is everything Felicity wants to be.  A room of our own.  Maybe we should stencil this in somewhere in the house!

UPDATE:
Still waiting to hear back from the Foursquare Foundation Grant to see if we were accepted for a grant.
We have been cleaning the house and are ready to tackle the wood floor.  The floor in the kitchen has also been coming up and we will retile or do something to it.  I am praying to get everything done so we can open soon!

Waiting...

So this week, I have sent off a grant application to the Foursquare Foundation.  I have asked for 10,000 of the 25, 000 I would love to have to have to really get our little felicity house moving. We will know March 1, if we have qualified for a closer look.
Also, the Exterior Painter has scheduled twice and both times we have been met with inclement weather.  We have yet to reschedule.
So I have turned my attention to the interior of the house and hope to have it all cleaned up and finished soon.  My wonderful husband is really pushing to finish!  Yay!  Progress!

Keep praying!

Thank you for your support, now don't leave me!

Dear Felicitites,

I am back to work today, trying to determine what needs are to be done in the house so we can open this Spring.  I must say... I am overwhelmed!
BUT... I am energized by the support I have received from many of you.  We will get this done and in 6 months we will be sipping tea out on Templeton Gap discussing a trip to Paris.
How does that sound???
Well now you can tell me.  We have moved the Blog to a new site so we can be more interactive with each other.  It is also much easier for me to blog on the fly!  For those of you on facebook we do have a page there that can be seen if you are in the Colorado Springs Network.
For now, take the poll, comment on the blog and I will get to work on the Felicity to do list!
